A Highland jaunt

We travelled to Edinburgh for a beautiful city and outdoor adventure break. After a couple of days taking in the sights, we headed 20 mins south of the city to the foot of the Pentlands, a regional park great for walking with lots of hills and way marked paths. From the summit tops, there are fantastic sweeping views over Edinburgh city and beyond.

Most visitors to Edinburgh don’t make it here but it’s absolutely worth including on your itinerary for the easy access to beautiful views over the Scottish countryside. We made a day of it and took a picnic. Finding ourselves a sheltered spot on the side of one of the summits, we watched the landscape change from green to golden auburn as the sun went down.
